This chamber pot was excavated from a trash pit located near the home of a Middletown merchant family (Watkinson) during the late 18th/early 19th century. The trash pit was notable for the high percentage and variety of chinoiserie, suggesting that the family may have been replacing their china cabinet. Learn more about chinoiserie.
