On November 15, 2024, the ARCP310 class went to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center to learn more about the past and present of Native American life in Connecticut. The museum has many impressive exhibits including a replica of what a Pequot village would look like on a summer day, complete with life-size people going about their daily activities and wigwams. We had the opportunity to learn about the plants and animals that the Pequot used and interacted with, which included large sea life such as the Atlantic Sturgeon. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Mashantucket Pequot museum and are grateful to have learned so much about the Indigenous people who lived and continue to live locally to us.
